Aṣṭa Mātrikā — The Eight Mothers
The eight goddess shrines encircling the Valley form its protective boundary. Each Mātrikā governs a cardinal or inter-cardinal direction and a domain of psycho-spiritual life. The full circuit is one of the oldest intact pilgrimage systems in South Asia.

Catvāri Vajravārāhī — The Four Tantric Shrines
Vajravārāhī is the great tantric deity of the Valley. Her four manifestations — each in a different topographic setting — are sites of intense esoteric practice and some of the finest medieval Newar sculpture surviving anywhere in Nepal.

Catvāri Lokeśvara — Compassion at the Four Directions
Four manifestations of the Bodhisattva of compassion positioned at the Valley's compass points. Each site carries its own iconographic program and associated mythology, together forming a map of the Buddhist ideal of the boundless, all-embracing mind.

Catvāri Gaṇeśa — The Four Removers of Obstacles
The four principal Gaṇeśa shrines of the Valley, each with distinct iconography, origin myth, and ritual specialization. The circuit is traditionally completed before any major undertaking and is an ideal orientation to the Valley's spatial logic.

Suyog studied for a year under Bhante Manjughoṣa, a living lineage holder of Newari Buddhism, giving him direct access to the living ritual traditions that most guides can only describe from the outside. He holds a BA in Economics and Mathematics from Bard College and brings the same rigor to Himalayan sacred geography that an academic would — without the detachment.
Through Samyak Astrology he has worked for years with international seekers — from India, Europe, and Russia-speaking communities — translating the living traditions of the Kathmandu Valley into frameworks that make sense to a contemporary, globally informed mind.
What makes these journeys different is not access to temples — anyone can enter. It is the interpretive layer: knowing what you are looking at, and why it was put there.
