Vasudhara: The Buddhist Goddess of Prosperity
Vasudhara (Tibetan: Norgyuma) is the Buddha of prosperity and resources of the earth. Vasudhara goddess is considered someone who provides stream of wealth. In the Tibetan tradition, she is considered equivalent to Yellow Tara. In the Newari tradition, her own unique identity is acknowledged, emphasized and followed.
The Vasudhara Sutra
The popular Vasudhara sutra from the Kangyur details the discussion of how reciting Vasudhara sutra helped the householder Sucandra achieve prosperity in no time. It was under the Sakyamuni Buddha’s advice that Sucandra recited and treasured the Vasudhara dharani.
Following Sucandra’s example of success in manifesting wealth in the right way (samyak way), the Buddha encourages everyone who is listening in his usual audience of sravakas, pratyekabuddhas and bodhisattvas to treasure and recite the dharani.

Sacred Shrines of Vasudhara
In the Newari Buddhist tradition, Vasudhara is considered so important that surprisingly to not many people’s awareness, there is a whole Vasudhara shrine house called Vasupur dedicated to the goddess on the same platform where the great Swayambhu stupa stands atop overlooking the Kathmandu Valley.Pic #1 is related to this
Another important shrine is one of the oldest dedicated to the goddess situated in the place that is named after her, Basundhara. Pic #2 is related to this.

Samyak Astrology has been continuously organizing monthly Vasudhara recitation since last two years. And all participants have benefitted from the goddess’ blessings in one way or another continuously.
Now we have opened up opportunities for people to also participate in this recitation by sponsoring the puja partially or fully or by just reciting at the time when we do it or at least on the same day.
