Pacali Bhairava is one of the eight Bhairavas, the consort of the eight mātṛkās that surround each city of the Kathmandu Valley. In this regard, just like the rest of the mātṛkās, the pilgrimage site of Pacali is a geomantic sacred point discovered by the likes of the great Siddha Sāntikarācārya.
Additionally, just like in many other temples of the Valley, the pilgrimage site associated with Pacali also, at some point, allowed the dissolution of a siddha who practiced Pacali’s sadhana to dissolve into the site.
The story is that a King of Pharping received the initiation of Pacali. He secretly practiced with his lover, a woman from the butcher caste, the sadhana of Pacali. He reached a certain level of practice at which he could generate himself as the deity. When he shared his accomplishments with his lover, she was very excited and wanted to see the form of Pacali in flesh. So she insisted that he generate the form. He warned that his practice had reached only a certain level, and he had no capacity to return to his form as a human being unless she threw blessed grains of rice once she was satisfied enough to look at the form.
So she agreed…….The King, now in the form of the deity, had no capacity to return to his human form. So he decided to dissolve into the original Pacali site….
What happened after the lover agreed? And why did the King decide to dissolve into the Pacali site? Some details are best left unanswered in a public website. You can contact us to learn more.
At Samyak Astrology Services, the rituals are performed at the site of Pacali to remove all sorts of strong obstacles.
