The great Māhākāla was flying towards India from Tibet when the master Śāśvata Vajra saw him and used the Amoghapāśa sādhana to cast a noose on him and make him fall down. The master walked up to him from his residence and gathered details about his identity.
Then he asked the deity to stay as a protector of the Kathmandu Valley. Specifically, he is the threshold guardian of the great Śankaṭā.
This temple is visited by Hindus and Vajrayāṇa Buddhists of all ethnicities. It’s a good idea to offer black clothe, black beans, and alcohol to him.
We arrange rituals at this temple to remove strong obstacles in general.
